Galatians Homeless Initiative is a Durham, North Carolina-based nonprofit on a mission to “take the formality out of housing.” Situated in the heart of the Research Triangle, Durham faces a rising housing crisis where over 11,000 people across the state experience homelessness annually.ย
Founded on the belief that every individual deserves a safe, stable environment, the organization provides a lifeline to those navigating life on the streets. From immediate food security and emergency hotel stays to their long-term vision of co-living spaces for veterans and foster youth, Galatians builds a foundation of stability rooted in empathy.
For founder Jasmine Thomas, this work is deeply personal. Operating in a “bootstrapping” phase, she recognized a critical gap in the local support system; it was an information vacuum. While the city offers various services, those who need them most often lack the reliable, firsthand insights required to access them. Thomas realized that for her ministry to truly scale, she needed more than just beds and meals, she needed a private, secure digital village where lived experience could be shared and community-led support could flourish.

How Networked Is Supporting Their Vision

Networked provides the infrastructure for Galatians to build a searchable resource library, giving members instant access to vetted information on North Carolina city services, health resources, and housing applications. Additionally, the built-in job board will serve as a bridge between local businesses and individuals ready to transition back into the workforce.ย
As the organization expands its co-living projects, the platformโs private chat functions will allow for localized coordination, ensuring every resident feels connected to the larger mission of recovery.
