Beacon Institute: Veteran Pathways Home

Peer Support and Workforce Training for Veterans

About

Veteran Pathways Home is a nonprofit organization that supports Service Members, Veterans, and families through peer support, workforce training, holistic wellness, and career development. Founded in 2012 and based in Williamsburg, Virginia, the organization serves participants nationwide, including active duty service members preparing for transition, veterans building new careers, and families seeking meaningful support.

Their programs are designed to meet people where they are. Beacon Institute works across military, government, healthcare, and community settings, offering peer workforce training, SkillBridge opportunities, behavioral health education, and resources rooted in whole-person healing. With partnerships that extend across the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and community organizations, their work reflects both structure and lived understanding.

What sets Veteran Pathways Home apart is the way it brings together peer leadership, evidence-based wellness practices, and practical career pathways. The goal is not simply to provide services, but to create stronger foundations for healing, resilience, and long-term growth.

In Their Words

โ€œWhat matters most is creating a space where the people we serve can find what they need without noise, barriers, or disconnected systems. When support, training, and peer connection live in one place, it becomes much easier for people to stay engaged and move forward.โ€โ€” Sharon Schlerf Newcomb, President/Chaplain, Veteran Pathways Home

How Networked Is Supporting Their Vision

Veteran Pathways Home has chosen Networked as the foundation for a private online community where Service Members, Veterans, families, and program participants can access support, training resources, and ongoing connection in one place. As this digital hub begins to take shape, it offers a more organized way to bring together materials, conversations, cohort communication, and program updates without forcing members to sift through scattered tools, email chains, or outside platforms.

This early stage community is being built to support the real pace and complexity of Veteran Pathways Home’s work. That includes training cohorts across time zones, peer support conversations, educational materials, and collaboration tied to specific programs, partnerships, and participant groups. Rather than opening everything all at once, the space can grow intentionally around the people and programs it is meant to serve.

Over time, this online community will give Veteran Pathways Home a stronger way to support learning, reduce friction, and keep members connected to the resources and relationships that matter most.

Veteran Pathways Home is building a more connected way to support healing, training, and transition for Service Members, Veterans, and families.
