The good news is, it doesn&#39;t have to be like that. You can configure your Sunsama account to jiu-jitsu all your reactive, interruptive work into proactive work.

To tame this incessant influx of information and transform your work day from reactive to proactive, I recommend setting up a task that repeats every workday. I created one for myself called &quot;Daily Triage,&quot; which contains a subtask for each major input source I need to check. In my case, that&#39;s my email, slack, github notifications, and customer support platform.

Over time, I&#39;ve found that I need to set aside an hour every morning and 45 minutes each evening to review, respond, and triage the work coming at me. When I account for this time in advance, I find that I&#39;m able to make more realistic time estimates about how much other work I can complete each day. What&#39;s more, I find I&#39;m happier, calmer and more focused because I&#39;ve already planned for all this inbound work — I&#39;m not just reacting to it as it comes in.

As you go through your inboxes and notifications, I recommend running the timer in Sunsama. I&#39;ve found that it helped me fully appreciate that dealing with these notifications utilizes my precious time and energy each day. It also helped me figure out how much time I need to allocate to this kind of triage work, so I can resist the temptation to keep checking throughout the day.

Here&#39;s a few other pro-tips:
</p><ul class='marker-wrapper'><li class='adject-marker' style="">If your job requires you to be extremely responsive, you can create three versions of this task: &quot;Inbound Triage (AM)&quot;, &quot;Inbound Triage (Lunch)&quot;, and &quot;Inbound Triage (PM)&quot;. This way, you&#39;ll only go about three hours between checks.</li><li class='adject-marker' style="">If you get a lot of requests via Slack, you can turn any message into a task in Sunsama using the &quot;...&quot; menu next to the message in Slack.</li><li class='adject-marker' style="">If a lot of your work arrives via email, add the Sunsama Gmail integration. Then you can drag emails that require more effort to tackle in as tasks and treat them like real work.</li><li class='adject-marker' style="">If you&#39;d like to dive deeper into jiu-jitsuing your notifications, I recommend reading the chapter &quot;<a href="https://www.nirandfar.com/email-management/" target="_blank">Hack Back Email</a>&quot; in Nir Eyal&#39;s book<a href="https://www.nirandfar.com/email-management/" target="_blank"> </a>
